The Volkl RTM 78 with Marker 4Motion XL 12.0 bindings is a ski that Volkl does an exceptionally job of making. They are perfect for intermediates looking to lay down high speed turns. The steel layer inside of the ski dampens vibration, and the 4Motion XL 12.0 bindings included help you out with getting comfortable at those high speeds. They have all of the solid underpinnings of a carving ski that derive from Volkl's racing technology. Their sidecut, though best suited to runs on the frontside, can dabble a bit off trail too.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Progressive Technology:Features very slightly raised areas across the edge in the mid-body of the ski deliver sufficient stability while allowing effortless turn initiation. The soft-flexing tail facilitates drift at the end of turn especially for beginners and low intermediate skiers.

XTD Transmission: XTD Transmission follows a similar philosophy to Dual XTD Transmission with less material overall giving the ski a softer feel. Optimized for ambitious intermediates, the ski's construction provides plenty of power transmission, allowing the skier to rise to the next level of speed and confidence.

Powered By Steel: There is steel layer below the topsheet that helps dampen vibration and increases the overall power of the ski when you get it up to speed.

Ideal Target Skier: Progressing Intermediate: This skier is pushing the limits of the intermediate badge, and getting off trail and figuring out how to get comfortable at higher speeds through variable terrain.

Ideal Target Skier: East Coast Hardpack Lover: This is an excellent ski for East Coast skiers that ski aggressively on the hardpack while still getting off trail a bit. West Coast skiers: this is a carving ski that should only be brought out when the powder is gone and its time to rip the groomers.

Speed: Moderate: The speed at which an intermediate skier travels, Moderate means they like to ski faster than beginners, but are never the fastest skiers on a run.

Wood Core: The standard core which has throughout time provided the best performance and durability. Each model may have it's own density level to help define flex and maximum speed but every wood core ski will be solid.

Cap Construction: The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other.

Textured Surface: Ideal for repelling wear and tear on the skis surface. Textured ski surfaces (aka snakeskin topsheet) are rough surfaces to the ski that hide or repel scratches keep your skis look new long after they are not. Originally designed for rental skis for obvious reasons, this surface is now available on a wide variety of retail skis as well since everyone likes their skis to look nice.

Tip Rocker: This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.

Tip Protectors: Plastic protectors on the tip increase the durability of the skis and reduce the likelihood of a delamination. Your tips are the most likely edges to get cracked, keep 'em safe with tip protectors and your skis will last for a long long time. If the tip protectors get damaged, it is not as big a deal as if it were to happen to the actual skis themselves.

XTD Progressive Technology: This ski has a unique 3D design which stabilizes the front of the ski body and transmits forces toward the ski’s center for a comfortable ride. Tip rocker construction offers stability needed for higher speeds without making turns any less gentle to initiate. At the end of the turn the classically cambered tail provides a clean arc for the curve to follow.
