Expert Racing Department

New Jersey Ski Racing Experts

Ski Barn’s Wayne location is home to our dedicated Racing Department, providing specialized equipment, fitting, tuning, and expert guidance for competitive ski racers throughout New Jersey.

Many members of our race staff are former racers themselves, bringing firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the equipment and performance needs of competitive athletes. We carry an expanded selection of leading ski racing brands and can special-order equipment to meet the needs of junior racers through experienced competitors.

Our Racing Department specializes in race ski boot fitting and custom footbeds to help improve precision, comfort, control, and power transfer. For growing junior racers, we also offer seasonal rentals of high-performance race ski boots, making it easier for families to keep young athletes properly fitted throughout the season.

Ski Barn also provides professional race ski tuning using our Montana Robotic Crystal Glide Finish Machine, which can apply race-specific base structures for optimal performance. Racers can also purchase qualifying race equipment at racer pricing every day of the week.

What Sets Ski Racing Gear Apart from Recreational Equipment?

Ski racing equipment is engineered for speed, precision, responsiveness, and edge control. Race skis, boots, and bindings typically use stiffer, more technical constructions that provide greater stability at high speeds and faster response during aggressive turns.

Race ski boots generally have a closer, more precise fit to maximize power transfer, while recreational boots tend to place greater emphasis on comfort and flexibility. Race skis also require specialized tuning, including specific base structures and edge preparation, to optimize grip and glide on firm race surfaces.

Because racing equipment is designed for competitive performance, proper sizing, fitting, setup, and ongoing maintenance are especially important. Ski Barn’s Racing Department can help ensure each component works together properly for the individual athlete.

Expert Race Ski Boot Fitting

A properly fitted race boot is one of the most important pieces of a racer’s equipment. Our experienced boot fitters evaluate foot shape, size, volume, stance, and performance needs to help racers achieve a secure, responsive fit without unnecessary discomfort.

Custom footbeds and boot adjustments can further improve support, alignment, control, and power transfer, helping racers get the most from their equipment on training and race days.

Race Ski Tuning & Preparation

Race skis require a higher level of preparation than typical recreational skis. Ski Barn provides precision race tuning using our Montana Robotic Crystal Glide Finish Machine, including the ability to create race-specific base structures.

Proper base preparation and edge tuning can help improve acceleration, glide, edge grip, and consistency—particularly on the firm snow conditions commonly encountered in ski racing.

Junior Ski Racing Equipment & Seasonal Race Boot Rentals

Young racers grow quickly, which can make keeping them properly equipped challenging. Ski Barn offers seasonal junior race boot rentals so developing athletes can ski in appropriately fitted, high-performance boots without families having to purchase new boots every season.

Our race specialists can also help parents navigate junior race skis, bindings, boots, sizing, and equipment changes as young athletes grow and progress.
